March 2020
BALL/NFHS RULES
Each team will supply (1) Baden Soccer ball for preliminary rounds. Home team will supply two additional balls (any brand w/ an NFHS symbol). For the Finals on Saturday, each home site will receive (2) additional Baden Soccer balls. If a team does not have the Baden ball, the game should be played as scheduled, and the officials should notify Mac Brazelton and he will notify CIF State.
UNIFORMS/NFHS SOCCER RULE BOOK
The host or designated home team shall wear dark jerseys, and socks, and the visiting team shall wear white shirts and stockings. The host or home team shall be responsible for making the necessary change.
TEAM ROSTER/LINE UP
Each coach shall submit a roster, bench personnel and coaches names to the officials at least five (5) minutes prior to the start of the contest. The game shall not begin until this is complete.
TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES
The following tie-breaking procedures will be in effect for all playoff games:
In all rounds leading up to the Regional final competition, play will consist of one 15-minute sudden-death overtime period. If a tie still exists, the National Federation Rules pertaining to penalty kicks will be followed. All coaches, officials and team captains shall assemble at the halfway line to review the procedure as outlined below:
1. The head referee shall choose the goal at which all the penalty kicks shall be taken.
2. Each coach shall select any five (5) players, including the goalkeeper, on or off the field (except those who may have been disqualified) to take the penalty kick.
3. A coin toss shall be held. The team winning the toss shall have the choice of kicking first or second.
4. Teams will alternate kickers. There is no follow-up on the kick.
5. Following five kicks for each team, the team scoring the greatest number of these kicks shall be declared the winner.
6. Add one goal to the winning team score and credit the victory.
If the score remains tied after each team has had five penalty kicks:
1a. Each coach shall select five different players than the first five who already have kicked to take the penalty kicks in a sudden victory situation, wherein if one team scores and the other team does not score, the game is ended without more kicks being taken.
2a. If the score remains tied, continue the sudden death victory penalty kicks with the coach selecting any five players to take the next set of alternating penalty kicks. If a tie still remains, repeat 1a.

CIF (02/14/2020)
Please note:
1) Ball Violation and Red Card reports need to be spot on and timely if needed
2) Overtime is two x 10 minute Golden Goal periods, followed by Kicks from the Mark (NFHS)
3) The roster size of 20 that is mentioned in the CIFSS Playoff Bulletin is a CIF Guideline, not an NFHS Rule. For that reason, it has nothing to do with us. We are not to enforce this nor is there a penalty for us or even CIFSS to impose. It is in the Bulletin to make schools aware the CIFSS only provides so many awards for winning/advancing schools. Officials need to continue to to enforce bench behavior per the NFHS rules which would go so far as to making sure that anyone who is on the bench is on the roster and that misconduct cards are actually shown for infractions, including to Head Coaches who are responsible for the behavior of their sideline. Again, roster size is not an issue for us and really ins't an issue for teams either, it's a guideline. Please make sure officials are staying away from this particular aspect at the games.
4) Inclement weather - games should play through rain so long as it's safe... lightening is a different story and we need to stop play... there looks to be possible weather for Monday... the rule that comes into play here is that once we get to halftime, the game counts.
